Banking Disputes

Overview

Papatriantafyllou & Thanasenari advises and represents businesses and private clients in banking disputes in Greece. Based in Athens, we act for Greek and international borrowers in matters involving bank loans, credit facilities and enforcement action against them, including disputes with banks and loan servicers.

We combine legal analysis of loan documentation with an assessment of each client’s financial position and objectives. Our advice helps clients understand their obligations, assess the amounts claimed and evaluate the available options before and during court proceedings.

Loan & Enforcement Disputes

We handle disputes concerning loan agreements, repayment obligations, interest, charges and unfair contract terms. Our work includes reviewing contractual terms, account statements and the documents relied upon to establish and enforce a claim.

Where grounds exist, we challenge payment orders and enforcement measures, including asset seizures and auctions. We represent clients before the Greek courts and seek the suspension of enforcement where appropriate, with close attention to the evidence, procedural requirements and deadlines.

Settlements with Banks & Loan Servicers

Alongside litigation, we advise on repayment arrangements and negotiate with banks and loan servicers. We assess proposed settlement terms and their implications for the client’s obligations, assets and any ongoing proceedings.

Where financial difficulties extend beyond a particular dispute, we also advise on debt settlement, restructuring and insolvency options.
