Technology & Artificial Intelligence

Overview

Papatriantafyllou & Thanasenari advises and represents Greek and international businesses and private clients in technology and artificial intelligence (AI) matters in Greece. Based in Athens, we combine commercial and regulatory advice with representation in technology-related disputes.

Our team brings together legal and technical knowledge, alongside experience in European research and policy initiatives concerning AI and cybersecurity.

Technology Contracts & Advisory

We advise businesses developing, acquiring or using technology, from start-ups to established organisations. Our work includes drafting and negotiating software licences, technology development agreements and contracts with digital service providers.

We address ownership and permitted use of technology and data, confidentiality, service obligations and liability, helping clients establish clear terms for their commercial arrangements.

Artificial Intelligence

We advise businesses developing, supplying or using AI systems on the EU AI Act and related Greek and EU legal requirements. We assess the client’s role, the system’s intended use and its risk classification to identify the relevant obligations and implementation timelines.

Our work includes advice on training data and web scraping, internal policies for the use of AI tools, trade secret protection and agreements with AI providers. We also assist with fundamental rights impact assessments (FRIAs), where relevant, and data protection compliance during the development, training and use of AI systems. We also advise on rights in AI-generated content and potential liability arising from the use of AI outputs.

Technology & AI Disputes

We represent businesses and private clients in disputes arising from technology contracts and the development or use of AI. Our work covers contractual performance, liability, intellectual property, data protection and competition issues.

We assess the evidence and available legal options, advise on negotiation and settlement, and represent clients before the Greek courts and competent regulatory authorities. Where appropriate, we seek interim measures to protect our clients’ rights.
