Criminal Law

Overview

Papatriantafyllou & Thanasenari advises and represents Greek and international private clients and businesses in criminal law matters in Greece. Based in Athens, we act at every stage of criminal proceedings, from initial investigations through to trial and appeal, including proceedings before the Supreme Court (Areios Pagos).

We provide clear advice on the allegations, the available legal options and the steps required at each stage. Each matter is handled with discretion and close attention to its personal, professional and reputational implication

Criminal Defence

We defend private clients facing criminal investigation or prosecution. Our work includes reviewing the case file, assessing the evidence and preparing written submissions and oral arguments. We develop each defence around the facts, the applicable law and the protection of our clients’ rights.

Throughout the proceedings, we keep clients informed of developments and explain the decisions they need to make. For clients based abroad, we provide guidance on the Greek criminal process and the practical requirements of their case.

Criminal Complaints & Representation

We also advise businesses and private clients affected by alleged criminal conduct. We assess the facts and supporting evidence, prepare criminal complaints and represent our clients as civil parties in the resulting proceedings.

Where criminal proceedings give rise to related civil claims, we advise on the available options and coordinate the handling of both matters.

For financial and business-related criminal matters, see our White-Collar Crime & Investigations practice.
